In 2012 the ICPN presented free Water Disaster Workshops in each of the five ICPN regions. Workshops were led by Pat Miller (Illinois Heritage Association) and Bronwyn Eves (Conservator with the Illinois State Museum, and ICPN Project Manager). Additional presenters varied from venue to venue. Each Water Emergencies Workshop included a first responder from the meeting area and local preservation experts who shared their expertise. Among the presenters were Julie Mosbo (Preservation Librarian at the Morris Library, SIU-Carbondale), Bonnie Parr (Library Conservator at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library); Jennifer Hain Tepper (Head of Preservation and Conservation at University of Illinois Library, Urbana-Champaign, UIUC); Christa Deacy-Quinn (Collections Manager at the Spurlock Museum, UIUC), and Jessica (Illinois Heritage Association).

In May 2013, the Illinois Fire Service Institute gave two workshops in Champaign, IL about fire emergencies. Each one-day workshop taught participants how best to avoid fires and its subsequent water damage. Attendees participated in a hands-on salvage exercise showcasing best practices for remediating water damaged materials. The workshops were free of charge and included lunch.
