Cambodian Day of Remembrance

In 2012, the Illinois General Assembly passed a resolution designating the first Saturday in April as the Cambodian Day of Remembrance.  This day commemorates the 2-3 million people who died as a result of genocide in Cambodia, honors the survivors, and extends the dialogue on hope and renewal.  Each year, the Cambodian Association of Illinois extends an open invitation to this event.   Check their website for information.

Information about the genocide perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge can be found at the following websites: Wikipedia and the Killing Fields Museum in Seattle, Washington.
