IFSI Burn Simulation and Collection Recovery (May 3)

This 1 day workshop (9:00am - 4:15pm) will include the following:
- introduction to disaster planning as it relates to fire emergencies and how fire spreads and reacts with collections materials
- demonstration of a controlled burn of discardable library and museum objects
- hands-on participation in a mock triage and recovery of materials that are burned, smoke damaged, and wet.
PLEASE NOTE:
- The workshop will take place, rain or shine. Some activities are held outside, please wear appropriate attire (casual clothing is recommended).
- Long pants and sturdy closed-toe shoes are required.
- Parking: There is plenty of free parking. Please park at the east side of the lot, closest to Building 1261, which is the Learning Resource and Research Center (it's the building with the large tower at front and a yellow sign marked "1261"). Come to Room 10 in the basement of the Learning Resource and Research Center.
- The program will start at 9. We will have coffee and a light breakfast, so feel free to arrive between 8:45 and 9 to get signed in and settled.
- Lunch will be provided.
