Public watched St. Louis Art Museum conservators restore a 348-foot long painting

From June 8 to September 3, 2012, the public had a unique opportunity to watch a team of art conservators in action!

Art conservators worked on restoration of the 348-foot long painting, Panorama of the Monumental Grandeur of the Mississippi Valley by Irish artist John Egan, commissioned in 1850.  It is the only surviving panorama of a group of 6 moving panoramic paintings of the Mississippi River valley.
